LABOUR LEADER EAMON Gilmore has said the Government is duty bound to uphold the Croke Park deal on public service pay and pensions, ahead of his party’s national conference later today.
The Tánaiste said the agreement – which sets out the future of the public service – had to be honoured, and insisted it was delivering the necessary reforms.
He rejected suggestions that the Fine Gael/Labour coalition could tweak the deal made by its predecessors in Government.
“Once an agreement is made, you honour the agreement,” Gilmore told Newstalk Breakfast.
"Croke Park is delivering reforms. I think it’s fair to say there has been a good deal of co-operation with the government and with management in moving forward reforms of the public services."
