We have passed the EU Fiscal Stability Treaty with more than 60% of those voting saying Yes. 5 of the 43 constituencies rejected the Treaty. Government ministers are promising to deliver on the jobs and stability pledges that dominated their campaigns. Just 5 constituencies said No: Donegal South-West and Donegal North-East as well as 3 in Dublin – North-West, South-West and South-Central. The Taoiseach and Tánaiste are expected to give their views on the result they had hoped for at a press conference later this afternoon. Just after 12:30pm Tipperary-South became the first constituency to declare a result giving a resounding Yes to the Treaty at 60.65%. Donegal South-West became the first No constituency with just under 55% voting against the Treaty. Donegal North-East and Dublin South-West have followed suit with No votes. That result will disappoint the coalition. Two Ministers – Pat Rabbitte and Brian Hayes – are based in Dublin South-West. In contrast the highest Yes vote in the country is likely to come from Dun Laoghaire this afternoon which has backed the Treaty with a 74.2% Yes vote. It is home to Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore and Richard Boyd-Barrett of the People Before Profit. Returning Officer Riona Ni Fhlanghaile announced the result at Dublin Castle. www.newstalk.ie/2012/news/ireland-passes-eu-fiscal-treaty-referendum/
