Howlin says Government is "not pursuing an austerity strategy" Brendan Howlin has insisted that the Government is not pursuing an austerity strategy, despite the claims by critics. In an op-ed in this morning's Irish Times, the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform has said that the state needs to deal with "catastrophic deficit".
