State paid over €119,000 to Booz for airport report TRANSPORT Minister Leo Varadkar said his department has paid Booz Consultants €119,350 for a report on the future of Cork and Shannon Airports. The consultancy firm delivered its report to Mr Varadkar in December, the minister told the Dail in a written reply. In total, Mr Varadkar confirmed that his department last year paid €577,668 to consultants for various reports. Other firms to get in excess of €100,000 from the department include Core, which got €120,131, and MentecPlus, which received €119,422. Deloitte , which last year evaluated Ryanair 's route proposals for extra flights to Irish airports in exchange for reduced airport charges, led to two payments of €42,350 and €12,288. The figures also show that economic consultants Indecon received a payment of €54,813 with financial analyst Adrian Swift getting €44,574 and Version 1 receiving €36,370. Mr Varadkar is due to announce a decision on Shannon Airport shortly. Booz recommended it should be separated from theDublin Airport Authority (DAA) and placed into a separate corporate structure with a remit to expand its activities beyond passenger travel. Booz also concluded that debts associated with Cork Airport meant that it should remain with the DAA for the immediate future, although with greater autonomy. www.independent.ie/business/irish/state-paid-over-119000-to-booz-for-airport-report-3088577.html
